I love it when something so simple can be so useful in the recruiting space. Last year I wrote about a recruiting product with a stupid name (only in the non-US interpretation I might add), that has developed into a successful social recruiting platform.
TalentBin is a great tool if you are recruiting in the IT/Tech space as it has a clever talent search engine that mines right into the heart of the social media platforms where the techies hang out - in other words going further than a LinkedIn search. They look at sites like Github, Stackoverflow, Twitter, Google Plus, Meetup and Quora and have some very clever algorithms producing candidates you wouldn't find anywhere else.
But that isn't just what I am talking about here.
TalentBin have just created a Chrome browser plugin that is awesome and FREE! It simply shows you the entire social footprint of candidates (if they are indexed in TalentBin that is!). You can then learn more about them quickly and engage with them on your network of choice.
Here is my profile on LinkedIn after I have just clicked on the TalentBin extension in Chrome
It has aggregated all my key points, interest points, social media profiles and contact points (typically American they call these your Contact Vectors!). They are all clickable links. and you can contact me immediately through any of these:
Now, if you aren't already using Chrome, it is probably worth giving it a go, right?
The download for the Talentbin plugin is here - http://talentbin.com/media/extensions/profile-appender.crx
If you want to see more of a demo (although it is as simple as I have explained), then here is a short video http://screencast.com/t/jljwoalyRRCX
Remember what I said, this won't be for everyone, as TalentBin does focus on the IT/tech community.
