I don't know about you, but I have been getting a little more email spam than normal from LinkedIn recently. I am not talking about dodgy stuff we all get in our spam filters every day, but work spam.
What I mean by work spam is product or service selling from people in your network, that has no relevance to you at all.
This is one of your contacts in your LinkedIn network that is messaging their whole connection list like it is email marketing. In other words - LinkedIn spammers. Here is the one I got yesterday:
I have no problem with using LinkedIn for messaging people AS LONG AS IT IS PROPERLY TARGETED or there is a good reason for it. Check the location above. Doh!
These types of message are just like spraying mud (or worse) at a wall and hoping the odd bit will stick. SPAM.
My advice is simple....... BE BRAVE - disconnect them from your network. They are not valued connections if they only see you as an vehicle to send these types of messages out. They are not people you want in your network. End of story.
If you get these types of emails, remove them from your network. Simply go to your connections tab on LinkedIn, and on the right hand side of the drop down is Remove Connections (see below). You then just search for your connection and click remove. Simple.
These last few weeks I have removed recruitment consultants, software sales people and marketing people - who have all sent me untargeted, completely irrelevant and stupid emails through LinkedIn.
It may seem trivial but it made me feel better!
